Void bastards art7/22/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() Can you renew your oxygen supply? sure, sometimes there's a room you can go to and pay to do that, and then it's the exact same problem I mentioned before. Well, yeah, but that requires understanding the layout and the enemy patrol patterns, and this requires TIME, and since your oxygen supply is limited, time is something you just don't have. Don't have the enemy map? You better hope that a dangerous enemy you must avoid won't wait for you when you open that door.īut, you say, you can have stealth mechanics without knowing where the enemies are at every given time and there are audio and visual cues (the visuals being comic-like words flowting in the air and are very clever) to warn you about enemies. Want to know where the enemies are? go to a very specific location on the ship (which is sometimes ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MAP or missing completely) and then you have to pay to get the enemy map, which would be nice if currency in this game would be easier to get or if it would actually stack after the death of the character but nope. Want to avoid combat? good luck, you fool, the enemies are randomized on the map and will block your way very often. ![]() The game offers you many weapons in three different categories (direct, indirect, device) and one would think it will make for a pretty engaging and versitile gameplay, but it just. Same goes for super strong enemies you need to avoid blocking your path.ītw avoiding enemies: the stealth mechanics and the survival mechanics clash with each other, BAD. There is absaloutly no way to prepare for that, and in higher levels ("depths" as defined by the game) this can make or break your heist without you having anythign to say about it. Sometimes you get on the ship and your one way out of the initial airlock corridor is blocked by an electric wire (which you cannot cross) or an absaloutly BRUTAL turrent right in front of the door that takes half your life before you can do anything. It all boils down to how I feel the game is unfair. I have love-hate relationship with crafting mechanics, but here they feel essential and well done, probably because they are the crux of the gameplay. The weapon/tool variaty is good, and crafting in general is GREAT. It's a good way to save on making new models and design (=development time and money) but also making them visually different so they register as different in the player's mind and prompt the correct reaction. They feel very different from one another and have "levels" signified by differnt color of the same model. The collor pallete and asthetic is steller, and I often take time to look at this game and be amazed. So here's a post about what I like about the game, my main issues with the game, and how I think I can solve it. I like it and I want to love it, but this game is just so frustrating at times. It has elements of fps, strategy, surviaval and stealth mixed into the exprience. ![]() Void Basterds is a game about space salvaging, with comic-book like asthetic and a british flaire.
